Sullen Goth Girl and Pretty Boy

Now here’s an interesting cover. It’s not a bad cover, per se, but there’s something scary about it. And that something scary IS THE FACT THAT THE GIRL CAN SEE THROUGH YOUR SOUL! Man, look at those crazy ass eyes. They’re like… quicksilver with no irises. Oh, those wacky goth girls and their funky contact lenses. Check out her lipstick, I swear to God, I used to wear that shade in high school. It was Revlon’s Toast of New York, which I darkened with a kohl eyeliner. Yeah, I was bad ass back then. Oh, dude, she’s totally a high school chick during the 90’s. You can tell by the overly plucked eyebrows. I bet she hung out with the cholas on the blacktop behind the A/V building during lunch. As for the male cover model, he’s cute enough, but there’s something vaguely simian about him. I don’t know what it is, though. His eyebrows look like two angry caterpillars locked in a duel. Between him and sullen goth girl, maybe their eyebrows can find a compromise and live in harmony. I read the blurb of this book and am interested enough to read it. Apparently, the sullen goth chick is a cyborg who starts to feel… yeah, the hot wax the nice Vietnamese lady uses on her eyebrows. Dare I hope that it’s set in a high school where the cyborg goth girl and the most popular boy in school, Jake “Ape Man” Harris fall in love?

Too true about the eyebrows, but the book is an awesome read. Layered characters, action packed and romance. I’m not a big fan of scifi, but I really enjoyed this book.

Ok, it’s funny, yes. Never thought to characterize the main characters like this.
I too have read the book and have to say it captured me from beginning to end. Candice takes you *inside* her book and you not only see the story but you feel it as well. And you can experience how conncected the characters are to one another as if invisible strings hold them together.
Once I finished I wanted to scream for more.

I am totally getting the simian vibe from that guy but I have to respectfully disagree about the “Ape Man” thing. I think of him more as a very pretty, delicate little monkey. A capuchin, perhaps?
